Hollywood si è svegliata all’alba questa mattina per il tradizionale e solenne annuncio delle nomination alla 86esima edizione degli Academy Awards. Alle 5.38 ora locale (le 14.38 circa per l’Italia) il divo di Thor Chris Hemsworth e il Presidente dell’Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Cheryl Boon Isaacs sono saliti sul palco per svelare i candidati che si contenderanno l’ambita statuetta nella cerimonia di premiazione che avrà luogo il prossimo 2 marzo, dal Dolby Theatre.
Tutto come previsto, o quasi. Dopo i Golden Globes, per gli Oscar 2014 gli occhi di tutti erano puntati su American Hustle, Gravity e 12 anni schiavo. E saranno proprio questi tre film i principali contenders nella notte degli Oscar. Il film di David O. Russell (nominato per il secondo anno consecutivo anche come miglior regista) e il dramma sci-fi di Alfonso Cuaron sono appaiati con dieci nomination ciascuno, segue 12 anni schiavo di Steve McQueen a nove. Candidature importanti anche per Captain Phillips, Nebraska, The Wolf of Wall Street, Her e Philomena. Completamente snobbato invece The Butler e A proposito di Davis dei fratelli Coen. Poche insomma le sorprese, di nota c’è la candidatura di Jonah Hill, la diciottesima nomination della carriera di Meryl Streep e l’esclusione di Tom Hanks, Robert Redford ed Emma Thompson.
L’Italia invece torna a sorridere grazie a Paolo Sorrentino. Con la vittoria ai Golden Globes, la presenza nella cinquina de La Grande Bellezza era praticamente già sicura. Al nostro paese l’Oscar manca ormai dal 1997, da quando Roberto Benigni trionfò oltreoceano col La vita è bella. Facendo i debiti scongiuri, Sorrentino ha tutte le carte in tavola per farcela. I precedenti ci sono favorevoli. E chissà che davvero, la magica notte degli Oscar non diventi una festa anche un po’ italiana.
